Your Opportunity
Stantec's Urban Mobility Group has an opportunity for a highly motivated Part or Full-Time Transportation Planning Intern/Co-op to join their team in Boston, MA.
As an Intern, you will support our 13-person team, performing a variety of tasks which may include mapping, document and presentation creation, and fieldwork. The projects that an intern/Co-op may be assigned to may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope.
From local to national projects related to parking, transportation demand management, transit, transportation master plans, and private development, our project list is broad. This is a terrific opportunity for a student to support a few exciting local and national projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Support a project team in the development of maps, presentations, graphics, and reports, for relevant project elements
- Perform transportation-related analyses within programs such as Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS
- Research parking, transit, and multimodal issues and trends for project work
- Assist team with administrative and organizational work, including researching new opportunities
- Attend meetings by phone and in person and take notes, including translating those to client-ready products such as meeting minutes
- Site visits and fieldwork to collect relevant data
- Tasks will require proficiency in some or all of the following: ArcGIS, the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop), and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Enthusiastic and motivated to learn and develop technical skills related to transportation planning
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience with the production of planning reports and documents
- Additional experience with graphics (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign) and mapping/database analysis using ArcGIS programs
- The ability to work in downtown Boston
Education and Experience
In progress toward earning a Bachelor's degree or in a Graduate program in Transportation Planning, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Public Policy or a related field.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods. Some travel may be required, such as delivering plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients or attending meetings. May occasionally visit study areas, and construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.
