Urban Planning Intern - Community Development (Winter 2023)

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• The candidates will be highly motivated, willing to work in both an individual and team-oriented environment, and ready to participate in a wide variety of planning projects, including, but not limited to:
  • Subdivision Development (ICI or Residential)
  • Condominium Development
  • Site Planning & Urban Design 
  • Planning Due Diligence Memos & Site Assessments
  • Official Plans and Secondary Plans 
  • Zoning By-law Reviews
  • Community Improvement Plans
  • Parks and Recreation Master Plans
  • Waterfront Management Plans
  • Transportation or Active Transportation Master Plans
  • Demographic and/or Housing Market Analysis 
• Previous planning employment experience is an asset, but not necessarily a requirement.
• Strong organizational skills and understanding how to prioritize.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience of planning theory.
• Creative problem solving and analytical skills.
• Prepares and coordinates technical activities on assigned projects.
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite, AutoCAD (or similar drafting software), and ArcGIS (or similar mapping software) is considered an asset.
• A valid driver’s license is an asset.

Education and Experience

This opportunity is specifically for post-secondary students enrolled in an Urban Planning Co-op program and has completed their second year of study, at a minimum.
