What does a Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Planning Graduate in our Water team do?

From day to day you might be involved in the following, under guidance:

 

·         Project Planning and Design:

o    Undertake various technical tasks such as data collection and analysis, hydraulic modelling, GIS/mapping, design drawings, engineering calculations and reporting to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

o    Participate in the planning phase of projects including feasibility studies, hydraulic capacity assessments, infrastructure augmentation optioneering and long-term strategic planning for water and wastewater systems.

o    Support the design of water infrastructure such as pipelines, tanks, pump stations and treatment plants.

 

  • Site Assessments:

o    Conduct site visits to gather data and assess project feasibility/constraints.

o    Analyse environmental, geological, cultural heritage and survey data to inform project planning.

 

  • Technical Documentation:

o    Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for project approvals.

o    Ensure project documentation complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

o    Assist in the preparation of tender submissions.

 

  • Collaboration with other Disciplines:

o    Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, environmental, structural, geotechnical and process.

o    Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

o    Support senior engineers in client meetings and presentations.

 

  • Professional Development:

o    Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

o    Participate in training programs and professional development opportunities.

o    Seek mentorship and guidance from experienced engineers within the business.

o    Represent Stantec and engage with industry bodies such as the Australian Water Association.

About You

  • Currently in the final year of your degree or with 1-2 years of experience
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Passion for learning and problem-solving
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  •  A good level of computer literacy including MS Word and Excel
  • Eligible to work in Australia
