Your Opportunity

Stantec is actively seeking eager, enthusiastic candidates for a Mid-Level Water Resources Engineer to provide support for clients in the federal, state and municipal government, transportation, energy, and non-profit/NGO’s for ecosystem restoration and mitigation projects in the Northern California and Pacific Northwest Region. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform broad, varied, and diverse engineering design tasks on assigned projects under general supervision of task lead or project manager, including detailed design, construction drawing development, engineering report writing, and regulatory and permit agency coordination. 
  • Engage in the design of civil and/or river restoration projects in various phases including planning, design, construction, and dam removals. 
  • Assist project managers with developing and managing the project scope including fee estimates, financial management, staffing and schedule.
  • Assist the task manager in preparing conceptual, preliminary, and final design work products for various project types and participate in client meetings.  
  • Project types include: watershed master planning; geomorphic assessments; stream, wetland, and coastal restoration, dam and fish passage barrier removals, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and post construction monitoring.
  • Participate in the permit process, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, and regulators.
  • Prepare engineering project proposals, change orders, client contact and communication.

Your Capabilities

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge. 
  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to support team success, and ability to function well in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience developing construction documents (drawings, technical specification, opinions of probable construction cost).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D tools including grading, corridors, and network development.
  • Experience with ArcGIS or other Geographic Information Systems software.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree Engineering with an emphasis in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
  • 5 - 7 of related work experience in civil engineering design, with an emphasis on water resource projects (river restoration, geomorphology, dam and barrier removal, levees, flood control structures, nature-based solutions, green infrastructure, and stormwater management).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in State of California, Oregon, or Washington required or (ability to obtain within one year of start). 

This position has the flexibility of working in a hybrid work environment with a mix of remote work and in office work. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
