Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking to hire a highly motivated, ambitious, Transportation Engineer. The position will offer the opportunity to work on small and large roadway, trail, and transit projects, in urban and rural settings, located in Maryland as well as other areas of the Mid-Atlantic region. Work Location will be in Baltimore, Maryland.
Your Key Responsibilities
Stormwater management, drainage, and erosion & sediment control analysis and design tasks for transportation and environmental projects and studies, including closed/open drainage systems, environmental site design, ponds, stream restoration, flood studies, and E&SC controls.
- Provide technical assistance to the transportation and environmental teams in areas of hydrologic, hydraulic, scour, and water quality design and analyses.
- Independently manage and perform hydrologic and hydraulic design tasks, reports, and studies.
- Assist in plan development and cost estimating.
- Maintain adherence to project schedules and milestones.
- Participate in field work as needed.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
The candidate must have these basic qualifications/requirements:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe, and Bluebeam.

- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience including but not limited to TR-55, TR-20, PC-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, or similar.
- Proficient using Bentley CAD programs including MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, and ProjectWise.
- Experience working for state, county, and municipal transportation agencies, preferably in the Mid-Atlantic region.
- Familiarity with CAD software including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley legacy products such as Inroads or GeoPak.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems software.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) registration in Maryland, Virginia, and/or District of Columbia; or ability to obtain E.I.T. within six months of employment.
- 0-2 years’ experience in water resources design and analysis for a professional engineering firm.
