Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, versatile, eager soil and wetland scientist to join Stantec’s growing CT team!  Our diverse bench of scientists and technical specialists provide a wide range of environmental services supporting our clients and projects at the local, state, and national level.  The Stantec team provides staff ample opportunities to learn and grow from industry experts in many specialty fields including soil science, biology, regulatory permitting, mitigation design, GIS, and construction inspection across multiple states and at all skill levels.  Stantec staff are committed to safety and are passionate about their work. It is a great place to work, learn, and grow your career.

Your Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will involve providing environmental support to a variety of projects in CT and elsewhere in the Southern New England region.  Specific field tasks may include conducting and/or supporting wetland delineations, assisting with GPS data collection, GIS analysis, construction monitoring, rare plant and animal surveys, and site inspections.  The selected candidate may be asked to conduct field work alone or with other field teams and participate in other non-field tasks, such as reporting, documentation, permitting support, and communication with project management, clients, and regulators.

Previous environmental construction inspection and documentation for permit and stormwater compliance including relevant stormwater certifications is a plus. The selected candidate will be exposed to many different scientific disciplines within environmental consulting and the candidate’s willingness to boldly step into the unknown to learn and contribute to the project and the team’s success is mandatory. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant environmental discipline is required.

In addition to supporting field efforts, selected candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills, excellent ethics, a positive attitude, and a strong moral compass. Candidates must have writing, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills. At Stantec, we encourage “outside the box” thinking and embrace innovative new ways to solve old problems using new techniques wherever possible.  As an environmental consultant, it is important that all levels of the organization have the opportunity to contribute ideas and make meaningful contributions to the project.
