Your Opportunity

Stantec GS seeks a highly motivated and talented entry-level environmental planner/scientist to support our growing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental planning and public involvement practice for our Department of Defense clients. The successful candidate has general knowledge of the natural and man-made environments subject to evaluation in environmental assessment studies; knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection; and the ability to engage and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to prepare a range of environmental planning products.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct data collection, desktop research, literature review, data analysis, regulatory review and analysis, analysis of existing information, environmental impact assessment, and report preparation (technical writing).
  • Contribute to report writing and production of environmental planning documentation, and preparation of public outreach materials, such as public notices, fact sheets, and presentations.
  • Support the development of monthly status reports for projects.
  • Assist with client or stakeholder meetings by taking detailed notes and preparing technical meeting minutes.
  • Supporting planning efforts for public meetings, including coordinating supplies and logistics, and attending public meetings.
  • Developing and maintaining stakeholder and/or project mailing lists.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel periodically, perform client visits, participate in field work and site assessments that require work outside the office and overnight travel.

Additional Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • This position requires travel throughout the U.S.; travel would be infrequent, such as one week per quarter, but could be more. There would also be evening public meetings on occasion.
  • Produce charts based on spreadsheet data.
  • Participate as a field crew member to assist with multimedia sampling events, resource surveys, or site condition assessments.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent grammatical skills, excellent written and spoken English.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills; writing samples required at time of interview.
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work on complex projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet firm deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Excellent MS Office skills: Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgement.
  • Valid US driver’s license in good standing with a clean record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Excellent and relevant references.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, or an earth science-related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ of experience
  • Ability to acquire background clearance sufficient to gain entry to military installations and/or controlled access facilities.
  • Ability to obtain IAW NISPOM security clearance.

Additional Information

  • Relocation support is not available for this role.
  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, and work location.
