We are seeking a Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Advisor (HSSE Advisor) to be based in our Perth Office to service both our Western Australia and South Australia Business Centres.
About the role:
Working under the leadership of the APAC HSSE Manager, you will play a key role in implementing and applying Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) program and the ANZ HSSE plan across assigned offices and projects in Australia. This role focuses on supporting day‑to‑day HSSE activities in line with established systems, standards, and procedures. You’ll help strengthen Stantec’s HSSE culture by contributing to the rollout of HSSE initiatives, managing incident reporting and investigations, and supporting the development of lessons learned and continuous improvement across the business.
Specifically, your duties will include:
· Support the APAC HSSE Manager and ANZ teams to deliver HSSE plans, initiatives, and continuous improvement.
· Contribute to incident management, reporting, investigations, and lessons learned.
· Provide HSSE guidance and support to offices and project teams across WA and SA.
· Assist with project HSSE planning, hazard assessments, audits, and site visits.
· Support subcontractor HSSE management and contribute to ISO audit activities.
· Promote Stantec’s core values and uphold strong quality, safety, environmental, and security standards.
So, what do you need to bring to take your career to the next level?
· Relevant qualification (tertiary/TAFE) in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
· 3-5 years relevant work experience in a HSSE Advisor role.
· Certified membership of a professional H&S institution such as Australia Institute of Health & Safety or similar (individuals able to obtain certification also considered).
· Knowledge of Australia’s Workplace/Occupational Health & Safety legislation and approach.
· Root Cause Investigation qualification and/or relevant experience.
· Experience in conducting audits and execution reviews against standards.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and support HSSE requirements across diverse teams
· Ability to prioritise tasks and work within defined procedures with limited supervision
· Skills
· Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal and organisation abilities, coupled with an ability to work in a team environment.
· Strong leadership skills and the capability to assess priorities and work independently.
Strong client-service focus with a can-do attitude.
