Your Opportunity
Our Transportation group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of aviation, bridge, rail, roadway, and transit projects. We’re looking for a Roads CAD technician/technologist to work as a team member on small and large projects supported and guided by our leadership team. Work includes a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the plans for structures and facilities such as bridges, railroads, roads, airports, and other projects. The role includes many business development and account management career opportunities, paired with the training to excel. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to be involved in exciting local, regional, national, and international projects while developing a skillset that they will carry throughout their career.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Use knowledge of tools and drafting to complete assigned tasks including 2D and 3D model development, completing design changes, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, plotting, and drafting using CAD platforms
- Perform thorough quality control (QA/QC) of models and sheet files for standards compliance, discipline coordination and ensure comments have been addressed by the responsible CAD technician/technologist and others as required
- Work closely with engineers and senior designers on assigned projects
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Ability to work with others on complex projects
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation
- Demonstrated ability to understand and maintain CAD standards
- Take initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team
- Participates in interdisciplinary coordination
- Working knowledge of software programs including Autodesk’s AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Bentley products, MicroStation, Inroads, and OpenRoads would be a desirable asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Pro/Bluebeam Revu.
- Working knowledge of basic engineering calculations
- Basic understanding of roadway design principles and concepts would be a desirable asset
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work under and meet tight deadlines
- Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
Education and Experience
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3 to 10 years of experience.
Stantec offers a hybrid work-from-office and/or home program. Depending on specific project needs, this position will primarily work in a hybrid office setting. Some field work may be required but will not be considered part of the primary job function.
