About the role:
As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of Power Delivery projects across New Zealand, managing complex projects from planning and execution through to completion. You’ll work closely with clients, project teams, technical specialists, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to a high standard.
This is a key role, working across the business and building strong relationships with clients and internal teams at all levels. You’ll provide leadership across project delivery, support the development of project management capability, and contribute to the continued growth of our Power Delivery portfolio.
Key responsibilities include
Working in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company health, safety and security guidelines and policies
Maintaining and enhancing our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider
Managing multiple projects simultaneously
Establishing project objectives, procedures and performance standards in compliance with Stantec and client processes and leading multi-disciplinary teams on proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services for Power Delivery projects
Identifying appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives as well as managing contract terms, tracking, and managing costs and schedule, and implementing measures necessary to stay on schedule and within budget
Leading by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management
Providing mentoring and training for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions.
Participate in helping to build, grow and develop teams of high performers to deliver successful client programs and projects.
Developing client relationships to facilitate project activities
Promoting collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies
What you’ll bring to the role
15+ years relevant project management experience within the power and utilities sector, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects from pursuit through to closeout.
Proven experience managing utility, power systems, substation and/or transmission projects.
Strong project management capability, including planning, execution, financial management, risk, quality, resourcing and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams, contractors and subconsultants.
A strong track record of building and maintaining client relationships and delivering a high standard of client service.
Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to lead, develop and mentor project managers and project delivery professionals.
Strategic leadership capability, including setting direction, developing and implementing strategy, leading change and contributing to broader business objectives.
Sound commercial judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, manage risk and develop practical, defensible solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, technical specialists, contractors, senior leaders and other stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartership is preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
