Whether it is building robust and sustainable urban development amid the current housing crisis, understanding the impact of dam operations and failures on downstream communities, assessing flood impact and design constraints of our national road and rail network, investigating urban water management and quality or assessing the environmental impact of Major Projects across Australia and the world – Stantec’s Water Resources Team is focused on delivering value to its clients and the communities we serve.
Our Water Resources team is growing and we are now looking for an experienced Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our diverse and growing team to deliver a variety of projects across Queensland along with supporting our national based team. With a flexible working environment, you could work from one of our SEQ offices in South Brisbane, Springfield, Carrara, and/or Maroochydore.
About the role:
As part of the Stantec Water Group you will get exposure to all areas of water engineering and have the potential to undertake water resources work for dams and hydro projects, water infrastructure projects and help to provide increased flood resilience to communities through detailed flooding assessment and work for local and state agencies.
The Senior Water Resources Engineer is typically responsible for:
Undertaking hydraulic and hydrological modelling – TUFLOW, URBS, XP RAFTS and WBNM preferred.
Assistance/mentorship to junior members of the team - we operate as a national tram and foster an environment of open learning.
Producing clear and concise technical reports.
Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as required
Flood modelling of creek and river systems and overland flow paths.
Modelling of pipe drainage networks and stormwater quality treatment trains
Collaboration with designers, environmental scientists, planners and engineers to deliver designs that are innovative, environmentally sensitive and practical
Interaction with clients in order to nurture long lasting relationships
To be successful for this role you'll present:
Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering coupled with 5-10+ years demonstrated experience in flood modelling.
Sufficient experience – RPEQ (or eligibility) is highly regarded.
Working knowledge of current guidelines, including experience working with Australian Rainfall and Runoff.
Demonstrated experience using TUFLOW and hydrologic modelling software.
Demonstrated experience with using GIS packages (e.g. QGIS, Mapinfo, ArcGIS).
Well developed communication skills to collaborate with a range of stakeholders in order to achieve project outcomes.
Ability to work as part of a team, including providing support to other teams within Stantec.
Highly developed interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients.
Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes.
Other desirable attributes includes
Exposure or experience with MUSIC and water balance software (e.g. Goldsim).
